Soup Kit in a Jar
Homemade Soup as Easy as 1, 2, 3 with Thrive
- 4 c beef broth
- 10 c water
- 1 lb stew meat or chicken
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 c thrive mixed bell peppers
- 1 c thrive freeze dried celery
- 1⁄2 c thrive freeze dried green beans
- 2 c thrive carrots
- 1⁄2 c thrive freeze dried chopped onions
- 1 T salt free spice mix
In a quart size Mason Jar, layer the first 6 ingredients. These ingredients make up the soup kit. I make quart size jars and then adjust the recipe for pint and 1/2 pint size jars. When it is time to make soup, all I need is a pot, water, broth and salt and pepper.
To a large soup pot, add soup kit, water and broth. Bring to boil. Reduce heat so that the soup simmers. Simmer until done, about 45 mins to an hour.
If you like to thicken soup with Thrive Barley, then add the barley at the beginning, the same if you are using Thrive diced potatoes. If you like to thicken using a roux, then prepare the roux and add at the end.
I use this soup kit for my chicken stew, beef soup and vegetable soup.
The recipe is really for the soup kit. I am introducing my friends and family to THRIVE by giving them the kits for Christmas. The quart size recipe feeds our family of 3 for two dinners and enough left for lunch. I make the kits for home so that it is easy to make soup. I no longer have to pull out all those huge cans of Thrive to make soup once. This time, I pulled out those huge cans and did 48 mason jars. My family loves soup and chicken stew and now I can make it in no time at all. Serve fresh bread and salad with the soup to make a complete and healthy meal.
