What is freeze drying?
THRIVE freeze-dried products are flash frozen, sublimated, and packaged to remove as much water as possible, all without sacrificing quality or nutritional value. These foods last longer and are healthier than foods that are simply dehydrated. Though both processes remove significant amounts of water from perishable food items, the speed of freeze drying locks in existing tastes and nutrients that would be lost during dehydration. Additionally, since freeze drying removes a greater percentage of water than dehydration, the shelf life of freeze-dried food increases by several years.

Storage Conditions
Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.
Humidity: The effects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the effects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.
Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.
The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

Not Chopped...Minced Onions
This has been my only disappointment with Thrive products. These are minced onions not chopped (There is a difference, as I keep expecting the Chefs in the videos to point out). Perfect if your not a fan of onion flavor. A total bummer if you like the texture and taste of onions in your dishes. However, one disappointment out of hundreds of products isn't too bad!

Lovely
I used these onions in a chicken pot pie this weekend. They were great! No chopping, no tears. They are so tiny that they dissolved and blended in with the other ingredients and added flavor, but no big chunks of onions. There are some things I like chunks in, however, so when I make those things, I will use fresh onions.

Super
These onions are great for cooking. No waste and best of all no cutting. Much smaller than I can get them. I've tried dehydrated onions, these have a much better taste and texture. I use these almost daily in cooking.

It's a perfect solution for anyone who hates to chop onions and/or has a very busy schedule. Easy to reconstitute also.
I absolutely hate chopping onions! This product is already chopped small enough to add to tuna salads, meatloaf, chili, etc. and each time I can use exactly what I need without having to worry about part of a leftover onion hanging out in the fridge. It's a perfect solution for anyone who hates to chop onions and/or has a very busy schedule. Easy to reconstitute also.

Too tiny
I love onions in lots of dishes. However, these are chopped just a little too small. I like to be able to see the onion and taste is alone while in a dish.

The bomb
I hate buying onions, because they go bad before I use them all. I hate cutting onions. These eliminate both tasks and they cook up great in anything.

Great addition to any kitchen.
The THRIVE Chopped Onion- Freeze Dried have been wonderful. I used them in anything. Just rehydrate. They are great in salads and all kinds of cooked meals. I buy the pantry can size to keep handy next to the salt and pepper. A addition to any kitchen.

so much better than dehydrated!
I typically don't cook with fresh onions. But after eating these, I'm hooked! Dehydrated onions can't compare to the awesome flavor of these freeze-dried ones. Diced very tiny -- tastes great sprinkled dry on salads or meat, and rehydrated in any dish! Now I add onions to everything!

Excellent for Cooking
I was sort of hoping these were sweet onions that could be eaten dry. They aren't. They are chopped very small and have a very strong onion flavor. They'll be excellent for cooking and I'm happy with my purchase but will continue to look for freeze dried sweet onion slices for snacking.
