Ernst & Young Recognizes Shelf Reliance as 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist
SALT LAKE CITY, UT, 8 JUNE 2012 — Last night at a gala at the Grand American Hotel, Jason Budge and Steve Palmer were celebrated as finalists for an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 Award in the Utah region. The award “recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities . . . and celebrates those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses.” Palmer and Budge were among 25 finalists in 9 different categories, and were recognized in the Nutrition Innovation category for the success of Shelf Reliance, which they founded in 2004 and have helped to grow exponentially and expand globally over the last 8 years.
A short filmed interview with Budge and Palmer was shown at the gala to recognize their entrepreneurial efforts. Budge and Palmer were recognized for their innovation in the food storage industry, where Shelf Reliance has transformed the stigma of unappetizing foods bought solely to store until they expire into an entire self-reliant, thriving lifestyle where the long-lasting foods you store are also the foods you eat every day. Shelf Reliance’s premium line of freeze dried and dehydrated THRIVE foods, revolutionary Food Rotation Systems, Home Party business model, and charity efforts all focus on the goal of helping people work toward self-reliant, prosperous, and charitable lifestyles in their everyday living.
“Steve and Jason are the embodiment of entrepreneurship,” said Shelf Reliance Executive Vice President Jason Norton. “They’ve built this business from the ground up, sacrificing everything they had to make their vision of facilitating global self-reliance a reality, and they’ve completely changed the way people think about buying and storing food.” Details on the award and the list of Utah Region finalists can be found at http://www.ey.com/US/en/Newsroom/News-releases/EY-announces-finalists-for-the-Entrepreneur-Of-The-Year-2012-Award-in-the-Utah-Region.
