Creamy Chicken Alfredo Skillet Meal-A Jar Meal Recipe

I have been having so much fun coming up with recipes for which all the ingredients will fit into a wide mouth Mason Jar.  This has enabled me to create multiples of our favorite recipes to have on hand for a quick and nutritious dinner. They are very economical too, ranging in cost from about 7.00 to 11.00 and feeding 4 to 6 people.  

I have had people tell me how glad they are to learn about  the idea of creating jar meals.  That being able to open a # 10 can of, say, Chicken and then combine with other ingredients to make multiple meals has taken the 'scary' factor out of opening the cans!

Creamy Chicken Alfredo Skillet Meal  by Holly Cooley

This recipe is so creamy and delicious!  Quick, too, since most of the ingredients can be pre-assembled in quart jars for convenience at dinnertime.  And only one skillet to wash.


2 1/4 C Thrive Whole Wheat Penne Pasta

1 ¼ C Thrive Chicken Dices

¼ C Thrive Spinach

1/4 C Thrive  Red bell Peppers

1/4 C Thrive FD Mushrooms (Optional)

1 T Thrive FD Onion

½ tsp minced Garlic

3/4 C Thrive Bechamel Sauce

¼ tsp Thrive Lemonade Powder

5 Tbsp Thrive Chicken Bouillon

½ tsp Thrive Chef’s Seasoning Blend

1 Tbsp Thrive Italian Seasoning or Basil

Dash of Cayenne


Layer above ingredients into a wide mouth Quart Jar.  Measure accurately and it will all fit. Seal with Food Saver attachment or oxygen absorber.


Additional items needed when preparing meal:

6 C Hot Water

2 1/2 T Butter

4 oz Heavy Cream OR 4 oz Cream Cheese, cubed (For thicker sauce) (I like to use some of each)

½ C Parmesan Cheese ( more or less, to taste)

¼ C white wine (Optional)



In a large skillet with lid, boil 6 Cups Water.  Add contents of jar, along with 2 1/2 T Butter.  Cover and simmer 15 minutes, until pasta is tender.  Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan Cheese.  Sauce will thicken as it cools. Stir in Heavy Cream and/or Cream Cheese.  Cover and allow to set for 5 minutes or so, till cream cheese has melted.  Stir in White Wine.  Enjoy!  Serves 4-6
