"Gimme Thrive" Grandpa's Chili

No other dish reminds me of my Grandpa Davis more than this chili and I was so excited to transform it into a jar meal with Thrive! I don't like super spicy things; I'd call this about a medium for heat. Makes about 5 1/2 cups of chili.

  1. In a clean, dry quart jar layer the ingredients in the order listed, tamping down when necessary to accommodate each layer. Place lid on and store to use within a month or so. For longer storage, seal with a vacuum sealer.

To cook the chili

  1. Pour 6 cups of water into a large pot or Dutch oven. Pour contents of jar meal into water and stir well to combine.
  2. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Remove from heat, cover with lid, and allow to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
