Cinnamon Twist Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 3/4 c. THRIVE Country White Dough Mix * or 1 pantry can
  • 1 pkg. Instant Dry Yeast
  • 9 oz. Water, warm (1 cup + 2 TbS)
  • 1/4 c. Butter, softened
  • 1/4 c. Cane Sugar
  • 2 tbsp. Cinnamon

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add in Country White Dough Mix and mix. Knead 5 minutes, on medium speed or until gluten is formed. I use my dough hook on my mixer for this.
  3. Form dough into a ball, lightly coated with oil. I put mine back into the mixing bowl and over with a dish towel or plastic wrap.
  4. Place in a warm, draft free area until doubled in size. Approx. 40 minutes.
  5. ** if you get a chance to watch the attached video it's easy to see how to assemble.
  6. Divide the dough in half. You will roll each half into rectangles.
  7. Spread each rectangle with 1/2 the butter, then sprinkle with 1/2 the sugar and 1/2 the cinnamon.
  8. Roll up the dough, from the long side, jelly roll fashion. Cut roll in half, almost to the top. I use my kitchen scissor to make this job easier.
  9. Face the cut sides up. Gently twist one leg over the other until you reach the end. You can leave the end loose and fan out slightly or pinch together and tuck under. Place in a warm, draft free area to double in size. Approx. 1 hour.
  10. To give the bread a nice shiny, rich brown finish, brush with an egg wash.
  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, depending on your oven. You are looking for it to be a nice golden brown.
  12. Cool on a cooling rack. Can be enjoyed warm or cooled.
