Ingredients

  • 4 c. THRIVE Mashed Potatoes just the flakes
  • 2 c. Water
  • 1 Whole Egg, beaten
  • 1/2 pkg. Sazon with Achiote & cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp. THRIVE Chefs Choice
  • 1 c. THRIVE Ground Beef (Hamburger) - Freeze Dried
  • 2 tbsp. THRIVE Chopped Onions - Freeze Dried
  • 1 tbsp. Thrive Green Bell Peppers - Freeze Dried
  • 1 tbsp. THRIVE Red Bell Peppers - Freeze Dried
  • 1 tbsp. Chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp. Sofrito or Recao
  • 2 tbsp. Tomato Powder
  • 1/4 Cup stuffed green olives
  • 1/2 tsp. THRIVE Chefs Choice
  • 3/4 c. Water
  • 3/4 c. Whole Wheat Flour or you can use white flour
  • 2-4 c. Vegetable oil, enough to fry

Directions

  1. Mix well the mashed potatoes with egg, 1 1/2 cup water and seasonings.
  2. Saute the ground beef with onions, garlic, peppers, olives, and seasonings, tomato powder and 3/4 cup water and simmer for a minute or two.
  3. Take a large spoonful of the potatoes, make a well in the middle, add a small spoonful of the meat filling, and wrap the potato dough around the meat, completely covering it. Roll in your hands to form a ball. Then roll the ball in the flour to coat it.
  4. Fry the balls in saucepan or frying pan until golden brown with enough oil to at least cover half the balls, at medium high heat, make sure the oil is good and hot before frying.
  5. Drain well on paper towels before serving.
  6. Watch out! They stay hot in the middle for a while!
