thought on 'minced vs. chopped' 0 people found this helpfulsince the process is different with freeze-dried compared to dehydrated onions, it may be a safe bet to say that the onions started out chopped, but because of the process, they end up looking minced and smaller than expected...??? just a thought.
at any rate, if you're buying them for the convenience factor, they fit the bill. they're obviously not going to be the same thing as when you chop up the onion yourself, but if you want burning eyes, help yourself. i think these are great! -
These are diced not chopped 0 people found this helpfulThey are very good in soups and things, but they are inaccuately described as chopped. They are a small mince. Wish they would have both cuts for different dishes.

a little bit goes a long way 0 people found this helpfulThese onions are powerful. i use them in almost everything.
when making soups, i just throw them in with celery and let the broth rehydrate them.
when using them for other dishes, i'll use about 1/8 of a cup. place them in a bowl with just enough water to cover them. let them sit while you're prepping other items, then they are ready to go. -
Not Chopped...Minced Onions 1 people found this helpfulThis has been my only disappointment with Thrive products. These are minced onions not chopped (There is a difference, as I keep expecting the Chefs in the videos to point out). Perfect if your not a fan of onion flavor. A total bummer if you like the texture and taste of onions in your dishes. However, one disappointment out of hundreds of products isn't too bad!

Lovely 0 people found this helpfulI used these onions in a chicken pot pie this weekend. They were great! No chopping, no tears. They are so tiny that they dissolved and blended in with the other ingredients and added flavor, but no big chunks of onions. There are some things I like chunks in, however, so when I make those things, I will use fresh onions.
