Thriving Nations in Ecuador

Thriving Nations is currently involved in several villages around Imbarra, Ecuador. In these areas the child mortality rate is extremely high because of malnutrition and diseases in drinking water. Most families grow only single crops and struggle to provide for their families every day, let alone provide for the future.

We're helping these villages develop a system of clean drinking water and cultivate the crops and livestock they need to become self-sufficient.

Participating families are given a variety of seeds and livestock and are educated on how to rotate crops to maximize their production, cultivate well-balanced diets, and care for their animals. After two years these families will have enough crops and livestock to store a year’s supply of food, provide a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables and protein for their families, sell excess at the market, and give back at least as much as they were originally given to help a new family start the program.
